The Savla VAT Calculator

Savla

The small but highly effective home page of this particular website, belonging to Strategic Accounting Solutions, is very welcoming. Not only do they have good information about what they do and the services they offer, they also provide a number of calculators that you can use free of charge.

Where can I find the website and what topics does it cover?

The website address is www.savla.co.uk. Unlike many sites which offer VAT calculators to use online, this one does not belong to a firm of accountants. Rather, they help businesses in many other ways, offering bookkeeping where necessary, as well as planning and development services.

There is also a selection of frequently asked questions if you decide you might like to use more than just their calculators!

How do I find the VAT calculator?

On the home page, you will see a number of tabs along the top of the page. Towards the right hand side you’ll notice one that says ‘calculator’. It should really be in plural since there is more than just the one provided!

Once you are into the page you will see a selection of clickable links at the bottom. The one you need will take you into the VAT calculator page, but for future reference the direct page URL for it is www.savla.co.uk/calculator_vat.htm.

How do I use it?

There is a set of instructions included on this page, so you can read through these to gain a quick understanding of it if need be. They will also refresh your memory if you come back to the site after a short time away from it.

Basically you need to type in the figure you have to work with in the first box provided. It doesn’t matter whether this figure has the VAT already included in it or not, because you will indicate whether or not this is the case in the next step.

The question underneath will solve this bit for you, so all you have to do is mark the yes or no box, depending on which one is appropriate. If the figure you need to enter is in whole pounds you don’t need to put a decimal point followed by zeroes in there. But if you have pence to enter, make sure the decimal is used and not a comma.

Clicking the reset button will clear all the boxes for you to start again. But if you wish you can just type over the amount in the first box and hit the calculate button again, or hit your return key on your keyboard. This has the same effect. Just remember to alter the yes or no answer whenever needed.

Is there anything else I should be aware of?

You cannot change the rate of VAT that is indicated on the calculator. This means that if you need to work out a different rate you will need to use another calculator altogether.

In this respect the website is quite rigid in the facilities it offers, but if the rate is right for your needs then it is a quick and easy VAT calculator to use. Just be sure to check the amount before you begin using it.

There are some websites that do give you the chance to change the amount yourself though, so you might want to use more than one of the calculators we have revealed on this site. So in short, when the rate fits, this should be your calculator of choice as it does the job of working your sums out for you in double quick time.
