This is a bright and breezy website which hits you with tones of blue and yellow – and it really grabs your attention.
But in more ways than one, because colour isn’t the only thing it has going for it. The Tax Assist Accountants have lots of offices all over the UK, and they help businesses in all kinds of different ways. It is small wonder then that they offer plenty of free help and advice on their website – including the all important VAT calculator.
Where can I find the website and what topics does it cover?
The website’s home page can be found at www.taxassist.co.uk. From there you can easily reach all areas of their website and explore both the main site and the blog that they have running as well.
You can see that they help all kinds of business set ups – from those at the very beginning to those that have been in business for a long time. You will also notice that they are far more than just accountants.
How do I find the VAT calculator?
Unlike some websites, the link for this item doesn’t immediately jump out at you. But when you arrive on the home page, you simply need to scroll right down to the bottom of the page to find it.
Notice the small section on the right labelled tax tools? That’s the part you need to look at, because there is a link to the tax calculators in there. The next page will provide a list of the calculators they have, and you can reach the VAT calculator from the clickable link they give you.
The direct link for the page is www.taxassist.co.uk/vatcalculator.php.
How do I use it?
The first thing you will need to do is to get the figure you need more information about. It doesn’t matter whether you have the net or the gross figure, so long as you know for sure which one it is. You will see why in just a moment.
Okay, what you need to do is type the figure you have into the first box on the VAT calculator. Once you have done this you will need to indicate whether the amount is gross or net (i.e. with or without VAT added already). You can do this by clicking on the drop down box and changing the answer if necessary. It always defaults to ‘no’, so you might not need to change it at all.
When that is done you simply need to click on the submit button to get the remaining figures. These will appear in the greyed out boxes below. Once you have written down what you need, you can do another calculation straightaway if you wish. All that is necessary is to type over the figure you put in initially. Once you’ve done that you can hit your return key to get the new figures.
Alternatively the reset button will clear the contents from all the boxes so there is no chance of getting confused between old and new calculations.
Is there anything else I should be aware of?
While some VAT calculators allow you to change the rate to suit your needs, this one does not fall into that category. While that is unfortunate, it is super speedy if the rate is correct for what you want. So as long as you check first and it is suitable for you, go ahead and make good use of it.
Don’t forget there are a number of other useful calculators included on the site. There can’t be many businesses that wouldn’t find those useful too, so be sure to take a look.
