Wednesday 6th April was a big day for the government and for everyone else in the country. The VAT rise that occurred in January has already put a strain on the budgets of many, and now various tax changes look set to put even more strain on some people.
It may be prudent to check to see which changes affect you, and whether you can adjust your spending so that big items subject to a bigger pro rata rise in VAT are not bought for a while. Everyone is in the same situation, with the need to cut back on spending and belts being tightened across the country. At least arguably we have some say in what we buy and what we don’t, as far as VAT is concerned.
